Kickstarted: The Maglus, A Magnetic Stylus For iPad 2 – [VIDEO]

Today we got the heads up from industrial designers Noel Joyce and Andy Shaw on their new project for iPad 2 called The Maglus. Found on the Irish version of Kickstarter, Fund.it, and with a recommended retail price of €24.99, Applydea’s Maglus is a new take on the original capacitive touch stylus.

The brief was simple:

1. To have a stylus that would not get lost and was always close to hand.
2. To provide a stylus that feels like a pen or a marker for use in different apps.
3. To make a product that had a premium feel on par with the device it is being used with.
4. To make the use of a stylus and tablet interface a better experience.

In order to put the Maglus into mass production however, the guys at Applydea need to raise €15,000, €2,302.00 of which they have already secured through pledges on the Maglus Fund.it page. The project has just 30 days to go.

Pledgers who wish to help Applydea get their Maglus project off the ground can pledge €5, €15, €20 or €40+, with each pledger’s donation rewarded with a certain gift – and get this, pledging just $15 gets you one Maglus stylus worth €24.99 – but hurry, as this offer is only open to the first 2000 pledgers.

Pledgers whom receive The Maglus will be rewarded with a better more fluid tablet experience. They will receive a premium product at a substantially discounted price to the R.R.P of €24.99 (ex p+p).

‘ipswDownloader’ – Sniff Out, Download iOS Firmware Files In Minutes – [JAILBREAK]

If you’re already up to speed with the methods available to jailbreak your iOS device, you’ll likely already know that tools such as redsn0w usually require you to download official iOS firmware files from Apple.

However, if you’re not able to extract these files from downloads via Tunes, up until now the internet has been your best (and only) shot – which, in most cases, can prove to be risky … especially if you happen to run across a firmware file which has been previously tempered with.

In an effort to rectify these issues, developer Vitaly Parovishnik has come up with ipswDownloader – a freely download application which will sniff out the official firmwares on Apple’s iTunes servers for almost all iOS devices, allowing you to download the firmware file you need in just a few minutes.

Alongside allowing you to download official iOS firmware files, ipswDownloader will also display the latest information about your jailbroken device, including which tool you originally used to jailbreak, whether your device is unlocked or locked and which baseband your device is currently running.

Supporting Mac (with no Windows version in sight), ipswDownloader is now available for download at MacUpdate.
